Some rivets and some fancy goo.  Hopefully more labor than dollars...

We knew going in that 14L had two too leaky wing tanks.  Darryl took the left one to his shop and I kept the right.

Right Wing

The one I kept also has a scabbed on leading edge repair that needs to be redone to bring it into conformity with the structural repair manual.  Click here to see the details of this repair.

Left Wing

While I've been focusing on the engine, Darryl has been looking into the left wing integral tank and it's not pretty.  Here's a picture of one of the access plates as found.
More images of our progress on this wing tank can be viewed here

Rudder
Right now, the most interesting photo is of the longest region of disbonding in the rudder trialing edge; just about 8 1/2 inches. It remains to be seen whether this can be re-bonded using Grumman service kit 125A, or with a combination of bonding and aluminum U channel; bonded and riveted to the tailing edge. the rivets are flush countersunk solid rivets (NAS1097AD3-3 or 4, as required).  We're working with Garner at Fletchair to determine the correct course of action.  Stay tuned!
